Where in the World did Fiery Deli Come From?

July 22, 2017

Beginning with a sailing trip from Venezuela - the story behind Fiery Deli is truly a remarkable one.

Now a beloved bunch of Queensland restaurants, Fiery Deli was formed after a South American family spent years at sea, docking at seaside towns across the globe to soak up as many cooking tips and tricks as they could.

Lucky for us, the Perez family brought their wealth of knowledge and sense of adventure to Australia, where they opened up a market stall on the Gold Coast. Inspired by their coastal journey, they cooked up a storm of the freshest, most flavoursome Latin food that Queensland market-goers had seen.

Among their most popular offerings was their authentic Venezuelan arepa – a taco-like burger stuffed with succulent meat, hearty black beans and chunky avocado lime salsa. Soon enough, the Fiery Deli stall couldn’t be seen without a hefty line of adoring fans awaiting their fiery fix.

It wasn’t long until demand for more of Fiery Deli’s famous street food saw the opening of a food truck, and then a restaurant on the Gold Coast. Most recently, Fiery Deli has introduced a second restaurant to North Brisbane in Westfield Chermside’s new dining precinct. At its Chermside location, arepas are still
the star of the menu, but they’re accompanied by a selection of tasty starters, empanadas, loaded\nachos and more substantial Venezuelan plates. And with the superior quality of the food at Fiery Deli, a three course meal is most definitely in order.

Perhaps the most unique thing about Fiery Deli’s menu is that it’s completely gluten and dairy free. But that doesn’t mean that the food is any less flavoursome. Instead of gluten-heavy breads, Fiery Deli’s arepas are made with 100% cornstarch, and larger dishes are served with rice. What’s more, all of their meat is free range and there are plenty of vegan and paleo options to choose from. It goes without saying that the Fiery Deli menu is as inclusive and friendly as the people behind it.

The atmosphere at Fiery Deli is brimming with energy, so it’s the perfect place for a family lunch or a celebratory dinner. We couldn’t be happier about Fiery Deli joining the Westfield Chermside crew, and we can’t wait for all of our North Brissy friends to see why.
