5 Movies We Can’t Wait to See These School Holidays at EVENT Cinemas Chermside

March 21, 2018

The holidays are finally here and EVENT Cinemas Chermside is nothing short of blockbusters to see. Here are the ones to put on your movie-loving radar.

A Wrinkle in Time

Based on a classic novel now being brought to life by Disney, A Wrinkle In Time looks like a whimsical delight. Part sci-fi, part fantasy, the story follows a young girl who adventures through time and space to rescue her father from another planet.

With Avatar-level cinematography and a stellar cast featuring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine, A Wrinkle in Time is set to please audiences of all ages.

Love, Simon

Led by Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel and 13 Reasons Why-favourite Katherine Langford, Love, Simon is an anticipated rom-com-drama that tells the story of a 17-year old boy struggling to come out to his friends and family. Based on the popular novel Simon vs the Homo Sapiens, this movie has already scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It looks funny, heart-warming and incredible sweet.

Pacific Rim Uprising

For your sci-fi fix these holidays, grab a few tickets to the much anticipated Pacific Rim Uprising. In a Transformers meets Godzilla fashion, Pacific Rim is bringing plenty of blatant but wonderful robots-punching-monsters action to the cinemas these school holidays.

Although the storyline isn’t rumoured to be particularly strong, it looks like a visually stunning piece of cinema – perfect for sitting back with a bucket of popcorn and a frozen coke.

Peter Rabbit

Everyone’s favourite storybook character is coming to the big screen, voiced by none other than James Corden. Alongside stars like Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson, Corden is said to bring an utterly delightful, cheeky adaptation to the Peter Rabbit film. And with just as much attitude as Shrek, Peter Rabbit looks like a movie the parents will love just as much as the kids.

Tomb Raider

It feels like we’ve been waiting years to finally see Alicia Vikander kick butt in this much anticipated remake of the original Tomb Raider films. She plays the fierce Lara Croft, who finds herself on a mythical island where her beloved father disappeared. Tomb Raider promises adventure, mystery and plenty of action you’ll want to see first at the cinemas.
